Yellowstone Hiking Guide
Yellowstone Hiking Guide
If you are a hiker, then the USA has more than its fair share of trails for you to discover. Across all the states of the union you will find a broad variety of trails to showcase the range of wildlife and landscapes within the country. From north to south, east to west, wherever you are walking, USA trails will impress you. Start planning your walking holiday by investigating the options on the Triple Crown walking trails in the USA listed here.
Appalachian Trail
One of the most famous trails in the country for walking is USA's Appalachian Trail. This 3500 kilometre trail was conceived in the 1920s and, since it was made especially for hikers, it is blessed to have many facilities put into place. Every year scores of hardcore hikers attempt to complete the whole trail; for everyone else there are guided walking tours available to take you to some of the more impressive sights along the way. One of the most popular and acclaimed portions of the trail is called The Pinnacle. After a rocky ascent you are greeted by spectacular views of Hawk Mountain and the Lehigh Valley.
The Continental Divide
Stretching 5000 kilometres from Mexico in the south to Canada in the north, the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail offers limitless possibilities for USA walking tours. This trail includes the Rocky Mountain National Park and Yellowstone National Park, where there are plenty of amazing walking tours that can be taken with local expert guides. In New Mexico some of the noted points on the trail include: Cibola National Park, Gila National Forest, Cumbres Pass and Carson National Forest. There is a Continental Divide Trail Society that is able to recommend different short walks and tours along the extensive trail to meet your individual or group walking needs.
Pacific Crest Trail
The Pacific Crest Trail traverses the states of Washington, Oregon and California and extends for 4260 kilometres. Most of the trail passes through national forest and includes some of the country's most pristine wilderness. Some of the major areas on the Pacific Crest Trail in the California portion where you can find walking tours include: Big Bear Lake, South Sierra Wilderness, Cajon Pass, Kings Canyon National Park and Lessen Volcanic National Park. In Oregon - Three Sisters Wilderness, Diamond Peak Wilderness, Warm Springs Indian Reservation and Cascade Locks offer different opportunities for walking tours. In Washington there is also plenty of choice, with Glacier Peak Wilderness, Mount Rainier National Park, Stevens Pass and Alpine Lakes Wilderness just a few of the locations where you can find walking tours.
USA walking tours can take you through all types of terrain with the Triple Crown trails. Most of the United States' premier walking and hiking paths are connected to one of these three major trails. Regardless of whether you are a serious hiker looking to conquer some of the more demanding trails or a casual walker interested in the diversion of a gentle hike and a bit of fresh air, there are tours with expert walking guides that will suit your needs. Discover the world by walking - USA awaits.
