Best Backpacking Tents
walking the wicklow way and need some advice.......?
is it possible to do it taking my own tent with me ?
is carrying a backpack with clothes and other supplies
going to make my walk slower and harder
what can i do to prepare to walk it
Is it best to plan out my trail with a map before
setting out or are there certain trails already
setup to follow
Are there villages along the way that i can wash
myself and my clothes and get a hot meal
is there anyone who done it before that can offer me some advice

The full Wicklow Way from Marley Park in Dublin to Clonegal in County Carlow is about 132km long and certainly will take at least 7 days to complete even by the most fit and experienced of walkers. It is not advisable to do the walk alone or to camp out for safety reasons. The Way crosses the largest unbroken block of mountains in Ireland and you could be walking for days without meeting anyone. If you had an accident it could well be your last! Make sure you have a mobile phone, with a charger, a whistle, a first aid kit and a torch with extra batteries.
The trail is marked out by posts but mainly at junctions so you will certainly need a map and a compass. It is advisable to book into hostels or other accommodation along the way in advance and tell them that you will be doing the Wicklow Way, this way there is some hope of an alert going out if you do not arrive. You couldn't do the walk without a backpack with extra clothes and supplies, make sure it is waterproof and your clothes can deal with any type of weather from sunshine to howling gales and rain.
