I'm looking to buy a good pair of hiking shoes with a goretex liner,not sure which are best.?
i have looked at different makes and noticed that Salomon shoes dont have vibram soles but something called contagrip. Is this as good for grip on slippy surfaces eg mud,wet rock?
Go to somewhere like Graham Tiso, and get your boots properly fitted. Goretex is great for clothing but, if you want a pair of boots that will last you, and that you can have resoled in future, go for traditional leather. Raichle, or Brasher are pretty good. Remember to rub them well with Nikkwax, or similar, when new; it makes them more pliable, and works the waterproofing well in. Get a pair of gaiters too. They'll keep your lower legs dry when slogging through heather or bracken. Good luck.
