where can I go for long hikes in Japan, around Takayama?
Looking for suggstions, maps, for short (4-6 hour) hikes in mountainous/country areas around Takayama - or within a short train ride. thanks
Takayama is nice.and since i live in the same prefec. o would recommend it . BUT, just last week some 60yr old hiker died from a fall, the weather changed and got foggy and cold. She slipped. So come between May and September...Though hiking is popular now due to the autumn foliage...after the hike , go to the Gero Hot Springs for the aching muscles, it is on your way back to the city on Route 41.. you cant miss it
