Friend bitten by a rattlesnake. Any advice?
Question: if you were on a hike in Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. You are a few hours down the trail, and your friend is bitten by a rattlesnake!! What should you do? How do you get her help?
She needs to wrap the extremity from the point closest to the heart and keep that extremity lowered and below heart level. She also needs to wash it with warm water and soap if she can. While maintaining an open airway and making sure she is breathing and has circulation (ABC's) you need to get her back to your vehicle and call 911 and get her to a hospital or on an ambulance ASAP. If she starts to go into shock or lose consciousness, start CPR. Absolutely NO sucking on the bite to suck the venom out and no cutting the wound further, this could cause more infection!
