Hiking New Mexico
Hiking New Mexico

What are fun vacation things to do in Northwest New Mexico and Southwest Colorado at this time of year?
I like calm water kayaking, hiking, sightseeing of ruins and old mines and nature scenic areas, and all sorts of things that bring me in touch with nature. All suggestions welcome and much appreciated!
)
Head on down to Navajo Dam. You'll find some great water sports there. Everything from skiing to cigarette boat racing. The swimming is good too, & there are many secluded coves to bask in the sun on a rock (boulder - lol) many of them right out in the water.
The hiking it great too, & don't forget Chaco Canyon & some of the other ruins.
Wherever you go & whatever you do, take water & jackets because when the sun goes down, it can cool off real quick. And if you do 4-wheeling, carry blankets too along with med-kit packs, etc...
Up Colorado way, I'd head off to Durango & you'll find all kinds of things to do from museums to trains, to live shows & shopping. Just head down main street & you'll see where you want to stop, take in a movie, get more information, or sit and take a break.
Enjoy. You're headed to one of the best places in the U.S.
