Anybody ever hiked the JOHN MUIR TRAIL in the High Sierras?
I did in 1982; 215 miles, 3 weeks
jp78: Easier said than done. Doing 15 miles a day at high altitudes, 9 to 14,000 ft, with a heavy pack definitely would take its toll on anyone.
Plus, you would need 3 "cache stops" along the way, that is have places to pick up food. We did two cache stops, and after the second cache halfway thru the trip I was hungry all the time; we needed a third cache stop.
Only pieces and parts. I would estimate around 65 miles of it. I did mine in the mid 60s. I envy you the experience of making the whole trip. I don't think I spent a full minute anywhere with a bad view.
