Hiking for Dummies
Do I need to take it easy or can I still move like normal?
This question sounds incredibly dumb, BBUUUTTT what I want to know is - I'm 33.5 weeks pregnant. I still move around as if I wasn't pregnant. Like dancing, the way I walk, running up the stairs, goofing off with my boyfriend, playing golf, hiking. Is this ok for the baby? My boyfriend was playfully chasing me up the stairs the other day and I got all excited and laughed/screamed a little and ran up the stairs real fast. Once I got upstairs and layed down (of course I was tired) I thought, "OH NO....I just full force ran up the stairs and I'm 33 weeks pregnant. Dummy!" So I'm wondering if moving like normal (I'm a hyper person) is ok or should I take it easy? This hasn't affected me negatively this entire pregnancy, so I'm guessing it's ok? Baby still moves great and is growing great. Is this ok that I haven't slowed down at all?
As long as you are not putting yourself at risk for injury, you're fine. As pregnancy progresses, it can throw off your balance, which is why they tell you not to participate in certain activities or wear high healed shoes. Something that can cause you to fall should be avoided. Therefore, I would suggest not running up or down stairs. Although you may feel okay doing it, if you happened to fall you could injure yourself and your baby. I would also be careful hiking as you could injure yourself doing that and if you are in a remote area, it might be difficult getting help. Other than that, exercise is good during pregnancy and usually helps with delivery and recovery. Best wishes.
