Hiking Colorado’s Front Range

Hiking Colorado's Front Range
Hiking Colorado's Front Range
How high is the mountain?

While hiking on a level path toward Colorado's front range, Lindsey determines that the angle of elevation to the top of the mountain is 34 degrees. Moving 500 ft. closer to the mountain, Lindsey determines the new angle of elevatin to be 38 degrees.

right, oh my this is quite a hard one.... erm, one second.

I think we can work out a triangle from this... Unfortunately.

so, if the base is 500th and the angels are 34 and 38 then we can work out how far away the mountain is and how high it is, but its not an easy thing to do, logic isn't telling me any answers.

Ill just think on it a second.

Right i think this makes use of :

sinX
------ = '' = ''
x

so, if i think for one second. we are given some useful values, one second, i'm just gonna grab some paper so I can think this through.

okay, were gonna have to change 38 to an inside angle, this is quite simple 180 - 38 and your done = 142

Boll__s i just realised how complicated this could get... hummm. This is where construction could help make it simple but i think construction is immature and i wont sink to it. One second ill post this and edit when ive thought through if a bit more.
