Hiking Cape Cod
Is a trip Boston-Provincetown-Newport-Portsmouth-White Mountains-Boston feasible in one week?
Hi, I am going to Boston in early April for a conference. I have a week to spend afterwards to explore New England. I would like to rent a car and go to Cape Cod, Newport (for the Cliff Walk), Portsmouth, and the White mountains. I looked up the distances on Google Maps (and the driving times), and came up with the following itinerary:
Friday (April 10th): rent car in Boston, drive to Provincetown (with stops to see Cape Cod)
Saturday: drive to Newport (scenic route), if arrival on time: do Cliff Walk
Sunday: if not done yet: do Cliff Walk, drive to Portsmouth
Monday: explore Portsmouth
Tuesday: drive to White Mountains (via Winnipesaukee lake?)
Wednesday: hike in White Mountains
Thursday: drive back to Boston
Would this be feasible you think? Any suggestions for alternatives are more than welcome!!

yes that sounds feasible and it sounds like a great trip...here are my ideas :
...DONT rent a car from boston to P-town--if you're going for just a day take the ferry from boston to provincetown and then rent a bike when you get there..the nicest area of cape cod is the north tip around P-town anyway..with a bike you can explore all of P Town plus get to all the beaches
...backtrack to boston and drive up I-93 North to get to the white Mountains..fyi, April will be mid-winter in the Whites so you might want to skip the hike or chose one very carefully unless you're an experienced hiker--i hiked last year on memorial day and had 2 feet of snow 3/4 of the way up...but you can choose a less intense hike (to a waterfall, smaller mountain with great views, etc)--look into Arethusa Falls(NH'shighest waterfall will be gushing in april) or Imp Face (2 mile hike to great views of mt washington and the Presidential range) or just drive along the Kancamangus Scenic highway to Conway and stare at Mt Washington..
..skip newport and portsmouth and head north to maine instead...portland maine is a way better town than portsmouth and there are way nicer coastal hikes in maine than the Cliff Walk...this would cut driving time in half by skipping a trip to RI...hike along popham beach state park, Maiden Cliff in camden, and if you can can allow time to go to Bar Harbor and Acadia national park--now you;ll really get to see coastal new england..along the way you could visit Portland Head Lighthouse (most photo'ld lighthouse in the US), the Old Port of portland, the Freeport outlets (very famous, LL bean flagship store, north face , patagonia, etc..)
...skip the Newport cliff walk and head north to maine instead
