What is the best laptop backpack for college?
I have been poring over the internet, and have been able to narrow it down a bit. I need something that is very durable, with good padding--I have a tendency to be really rough with my belongings, and I need great protection for my new Macbook Pro. I've spent too much money to have it be ruined by an inadequate bag. My price range is anywhere up until approximately $100.
Like I said, I've done a little research, and here are some of the bags I've come up with:
Timbuk2 - Hacker Daypack
Brenthaven - Trek
Spire - Torq
The North Face - Surge
Swissgear - Wenger Synergy
If it has waterproof material or comes with a rain cover, that would be great too.

I have been doing the same thing. I had a SwissGear backpack before and it had excellent padding. I never worried about anything getting wet either. It stayed in great shape and was excellent quality. I am definitely purchasing another one for my macbook pro.
I have also heard good things about The North Face backpacks. I think if you stick with one of those, you should be good. However, my own personal preference is Swissgear.
