What is a good 50-55L women's backpack without a daysack?
I want a backpack for travelling around Central and South America. I want something that is 50-55L, without a daypack that has a zip opening not a top opening.
Sorry, can't help once I read that you want zip opening.
Your best bet is to go to somewhere like Millets or Ellis & Brigham etc and try some on for size / comfort, rather than relying on other people's opinions. What suits one person may not be comfortable for you.
I'm happy with my Karrimor Panther (55L) as it has side and top pockets (all of which can be padlocked), but I use a PacSafe wire mesh on it when travelling to / in S America or other countries where theft from luggage is a known problem. The only downside is that I can't undo the straps to fit the PacSafe properly, so can only put it on at the last minute, which is a pain. This last point is something to bear in mind if you were thinking of taking a security mesh with you!
