Where is there good hiking/camping in Connecticut?
Hi Everyone,
I enjoy hiking and camping and have been to many different areas including different parts of the Catskills and the green mountains of Vermont. My plan is to hike/camp the Adirondacks which I am planning on doing this summer at some point but all of these trips have required me to leave my great home state of Connecticut. My question is if there is any good camping/hiking spots in Connecticut. By this I mean remote wilderness with marked trails that are heavily populated by other hikers and campers. When I go on these trips my goal is to be away from civilization and people and just take in the surroundings and enjoy the great outdoors in peace. Does anyone know of any places in Connecticut that can offer this? If so, then where? where is the trail head?
Thanks in advance for your input!
Christian
the best backpack camping in Conn. is along the Appalachian trial. the section from route 4 north to the Mass. line is remote and chalanging. If you go during the week its quite and uncrowed. section from from rt4 south to NY line gets a lot of day hikers and locals out walking the dog very suban feel but easy and very pretty most river side and ridge walking. hope that helps.
