Backpacking Northern California
What are good mid-level backpacking trails in Northern California?
We live in the bay area and are looking for a good (5-8 mile per day) 3-4 day trail in the area. I'm fairly experienced but are going out with some buds that aren't super experienced. Any suggestions on where to go? Don't want to have to drive too far either. Thanks.
Mammoth Lakes has a really nice one that starts at Lake Mary's far end and goes up to a beautiful set of small lakes, then if you continue through a switchback and climb to a higher altitude you will come to Duck Lake, a very large lake, that seems like your on the top of the World.
Very Beautiful, and great fishing.
July would be a good time to go because most of the year it is covered in snow.
You will be impressed with this one for sure, I spent a week up there, fished and took many pictures, Had a Great Time.
